We all dream of our ideal vacation destinations, although if gaming and casino entertainment are ‘must-do’ activities, these are three of the most unique destinations around the world. Let’s take a look!
1. Las Vegas – USA
Nowhere is perhaps quite so famous as the fabled ‘Sin City’ of Las Vegas, which actually translates as ‘The Meadows’ from Spanish to English. This name was given to the area by Mexican scouts on the trail to California in 1829, when they discovered the lush wild grasses and desert springs where the city now stands, making for an ideal rest stop on their travels.
After the city was founded in 1905, the biggest boom came just over 100 years after the location was discovered. Despite the rest of the USA being in the midst of the Great Depression, thousands of construction workers migrated to Las Vegas for the construction of the Hoover Dam in 1931. That same year, gambling was also legalized in the state of Nevada.
Since then the city has never stopped evolving, continually attracting visitors with the biggest names in entertainment always gracing the stages of the enormous casino resort hotels. Vegas remains synonymous with gambling even after all this time as the two are so heavily intertwined, which means some sites use the likeness and name to appeal to this such as Magical Vegas casino promotions where you can play the latest slots or table games such as poker and roulette.
2. Macau – China
Halfway around the world and undoubtedly inspired by the success of Las Vegas, it’s hard to believe that Macau started out as a fishing village and Portuguese trading post, ideally situated just across the Pearl River Delta from Hong Kong. Although gambling has always been popular amongst locals, it was only once control of the peninsula returned to China, that a real transformation came.
In the late 1990s, the biggest Las Vegas casino corporations arrived, building massive resorts that made their counterparts in the Nevada city look like scale model miniatures by comparison. Almost overnight, the economy boomed, these days it’s estimated that roughly 25% of the Macau population are employed by the casino industry.
It’s easy to be wowed by the massive casinos, including the Venetian Macao, modeled after it’s sister resort in Las Vegas, but doing everything even bigger and better. Indeed, this resort not only boasts the biggest casino in the world, but also the largest single structure hotel building in the whole of Asia. Aside from the vast array of gaming and entertainment, what truly makes Macau unique is the fusion of colonial European and Asian culture.
3. Nassau – Bahamas
There aren’t many places where you can sit playing poker or roulette in a bikini, sipping cocktails, right next to the white sand and azure sea. However, that’s precisely what Bahaman resorts such as Baha Mar offer casino tourists, ranking as one of the top Nassau destinations according to tripadvisor.com reviews.
As the capital and commercial center of the Bahamas, the island of New Providence and the city of Nassau have become one of the most dreamed of tourist destinations in the world. Established originally as a British colony, it’s perhaps the infamy of becoming a pirate haven that really put Nassau on the Caribbean map, with legendary buccaneers such as Jack Rackham and Blackbeard using the island as a base for their daring high-seas adventures.
These days, the tropical climate accompanied by luxurious accommodation and entertainment, make Nassau one of the most dreamed of tourist destinations in the world. From the quaint architecture of the old town and the historic forts to the massive resorts catering to every whim of their visitors; this is a sumptuous playground for holidaymakers to relax and get away from the humdrum of daily life.
Any one of these three casino destinations will keep you entertained, each with their own unique charms and attractions, whether you’re going for the gaming or everything else they have to offer.
