There are times when you feel guilty because you can’t spend enough time with your kids. You’re too busy with work, and you can’t give them the attention they deserve. You can’t wait until it’s too late before doing something about it. Your kids won’t stay young forever. Before you know it, they’ll be adults. As such, it’s important that you find a way to make it up to them. You also don’t want them to bear grudges because you didn’t do your role as a parent while they were growing up. Yes, you can be a good provider, but it’s not your only responsibility. These are the things you can do to make it up to them.
Help them with homework
If your kids are already going to school, you have to find time to study with them. Although you want them to be independent with their studies, it would be great if you guide them. Besides, there are topics that your help might be necessary with. They would be grateful when you try to be there for them.
Cook their favourite dish
When was the last time that you cooked for your kids? Perhaps, it’s been a while because you even bring your work home. It’s time that you do something about it. Make sure that you ask them what they want to eat, and try to cook it for them. Your kids will appreciate your effort.
Plan a trip
Your kids will be excited if you tell them that you’re heading out for a trip. They will immediately jump for joy the moment you inform them about the plan. Make sure that you involve them in the process. They might want to visit certain places, and you have to give them the chance to choose which ones. Again, your goal is to make it up to them, so you have to give your kids what they demand.
If you can’t afford to go on a trip to distant locations, you can opt for big houses to rent that you can find in places near you. Check the amenities available and decide if they’re worth renting. Some of them might have a pool while others even have a golf course. As long as you get what you want, it’s good enough. The rental rate is a bit expensive, so you need to decide what would be worth the amount that you will pay. Your kids will enjoy houses with a gaming room, library, or theatre.
Spend special moments at home
If you only have a day to spare and you failed to plan anything, you can stay home and bond with your kids. Drop everything else, even household chores, so you can spend time with them. They will appreciate these moments, especially if it’s been a while since you last did it.
You need to give your children what they want, and providing food on the table isn’t the only important thing.
